360 Fit New Orleans is a group of Black womyn who come together every weekday morning and evening to elevate themselves through collective exercise routines, lessons on eating for optimum health and wellness. 360 Fit is only one of many other Black fitness groups working out in New Orleans open spaces, parks, and squares, most of which have begun during and post the Covid #ShelterInPlace. My aim is to further elevate Blackness positivity and joy in a time of multiple crises - the Corona pandemic, increasing militarisation on our streets and the Movement 4 Black Lives.
In the words of writer and poet, Alexis De Veaux, we are here because "their [our Black Womyn ancestors] feet are my feet - they live the aura and atmosphere of this earth"
